Sity reconceives the sofa as a spatial system for the living area. Beyond the sectional, it introduces the island configuration and multiple depths, including a chaise longue element, turning seating into a changing landscape. Born from close observation of everyday life, it rejects the static bourgeois settee: the sofa becomes a vital, evolving element that organises the room, accommodating conversation, eating, television, and writing.
The system coordinates more than twenty components into an abacus of solutions, enabling open-ended compositions that govern flows and viewpoints. Work on typology meets a revised production strategy, ensuring precision and repeatability. Recognised with the Compasso d’Oro, Sity marked a decisive break with traditional archetypes and affirmed the inseparable link between interior space and product design.
