Developed between 1997 and 2000, the design stemmed from an ongoing reflection on comfort, proportion, and spatial freedom. Conceived as a low, generous system resting close to the floor, it paired down-filled cushions with thin thick-leather elements that serve as armrests or bookshelves. The construction required sharp-edged leather cuts with no visible stitching, achieving visual lightness and tactile precision. Subtle references to Donald Judd’s measured compositions informed its clarity. Over time, its balance of softness and structure reshaped the Flexform collection, establishing a new typology of modular sofa.
