Charles marked a turning point in the evolution of the modular sofa, translating the typological freedom of Sity into a lighter and more rigorous system. The project explores how reduction can generate variety: a single seat cushion, a raised frame, and an inverted L-shaped aluminium foot define a flexible platform capable of infinite compositions. Developed with the B&B Italia Research Centre, it balances industrial precision with the expressive restraint of modern design. The result is a system that redefined the contemporary sofa through proportion, comfort, and enduring clarity.
